3 ways to improve your employees’ Salesforce experience

Sellers can get lost in complex Salesforce implementations. Use these strategies to make sure that doesn’t happen to yours.

In the past, work was like an orderly assembly line. People identified where things got stuck, then stopped the line to fix the problem. Today, most work happens inside software (and a lot of it). 

Companies of every size accumulate apps to improve productivity, efficiency, and ultimately, their bottom lines. In 2024 alone, the average enterprise employee uses 231 apps—up 4% from last year.

With this many tools, your company’s tech stack looks less like a smooth, sequential assembly line, and more like NYC’s subway system. Each piece of software is one stop along the workflow, with its own purpose and set of users. Some workflows overlap, some don’t. And they’re all trying to get you to your end destination.

There are three general consequences of poor digital adoption: A higher risk of noncompliance, increased employee churn, and lost time and money. Within Salesforce, this may look like longer-than-normal sales cycles, poor lead conversion, inaccurate forecasting, and compliance and legal issues.

1. Map and understand employee workflows

First, the bad news: 40% of employees have avoided or delayed the use of applications after a negative experience by using minimal features. And with third-party software, negative experiences may be out of your control.

Analyzing user engagement

You have a set number of Salesforce licenses with varying permissions. But knowing if your employees log in (or not) isn’t representative of your digital workplace’s value. How are people using Salesforce, and how often? This additional context helps you reduce IT and operational costs.

2. Communicate what you want people to do

Passengers riding the L train don’t want messages for a different route. Your workplace communications are no different. 

The best way to drive Salesforce adoption is to show your workforce exactly what to do. And because 70% of training content is forgotten within 24 hours, the most effective way to communicate is when users are actively inside Salesforce. This also makes it easier to train a remote, globally distributed workforce.
